Florence police make multiple drug busts

Posted: Tuesday, Dec 1st, 2009

Five arrested in three separate cases of drug possession.

Monday was a busy day for the Florence Police Department (FPD) as officers, in conjunction with the Lane County SWAT team, served two search warrants that resulted in the arrest of four people and confiscation of various drugs and weapons.

Methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, along with a pistol and rifle, were found at 84387 Clear Lake Road after a Monday morning, Nov. 30, search by the FPD and a Lane County SWAT team. SWAT was called to the scene because the suspects were possibly armed and dangerous.

Troy Adam Lewis, 44, and Shawnna Lea Lewis, 35, both of Dunes City, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Troy was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Shawnna was cited and released while Troy is currently being held at Lane County Jail.

Later that morning, the FPD and SWAT searched a home at 81445 Highway 101, near Friendly Acres Road. Officers recovered methamphetamine pipes and firearms.

Kasey Ann Rook, 31, and Douglas Linn Bechtold, 48, both of Florence, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and first-degree child neglect. Both were cited and released.

According to the FPD, both search warrants were a result of two independent investigations by Florence Police Officer Terry Walton.

The Monday morning searches come just a week after officers arrested a Florence teenager in possession of marijuana and approximately 90 capsules of the drug Ecstacy.

On Nov. 23, Kevin Christopher Warren, 18, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance after Florence Police Officer Ken Larson discovered Warren while following up on a burglary investigation.
