Body found at Washburne State Park

Oregon State Police (OSP) and the Lane County Medical Examiner are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man found Thursday afternoon, Oct. 4, on the beach near Washburne State Park north of Florence. The man’s name is withheld pending next of kin notification.

Lt. Gregg Hastings of OSP said the man was from out of the area. There is no evidence he was a victim of a crime. He was camping alone at the park and may have had a medical emergency while walking on the beach.

OSP troopers from the Florence and Springfield offices are involved in the investigation.
