No ‘do-gooders’

A self-described “computer junkie,” Heather Rowles has lived and worked on the central Oregon coast for 17 years. Currently taking online college courses toward a bachelor’s degree in game design and development, she also reliably volunteers each week at the Helping Hands Coalition Day Center. She loves animals. She is smart and articulate. She is also homeless.

“A lot of people who live here don’t realize that many people they see around town don’t have a place to live. They have been living in a tent or they are couch hopping, going from friend’s house to friend’s house,” said the 48-year-old.
