“It was a surprise,” said a man (name withheld for privacy), who was busily at work early Thursday morning at a PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region facility. “None of us could recognize him. It wasn’t someone we know.”
The surprise was a visit to the man’s Florence home on Nopal Street on Christmas afternoon, where family members, including two children, a 1-year-old and 5-year-old, were celebrating the holidays.
It was about 2:30 p.m., when a knock was heard at the door. They opened the door to a man dressed in a Santa suit. His white flowing beard looked like the real thing. The anonymous Santa handed over a rocking horse, turned and drove away.
“I could see he had a pickup. It looked like there were toys, covered in plastic, in the back. He must have visited a lot of other people that day,” said the medical worker.
