State reports three fatal crashes over Christmas holiday weekend

Close to home the roads were fairly quiet over the weekend preceding and days surrounding Christmas, according to Florence Police Chief Ray Gutierrez on Thursday.

Two single-vehicle accidents, however, resulted in two arrests for driving under the influence of intoxicants. On Saturday afternoon, Dec. 22, Oregon State Police responded to a call about a pickup rolled over along Highway 101, near Woahink Lake Suites. Witnesses told the trooper that they saw the driver extricate himself from the vehicle and head into the brush on foot. The trooper searched the area and found a male who had injuries consiste nt with an auto accident. James Bradford Jr., age 42, was arrested and charged with DUII, reckless driving and failure to report a crash.
