Hicks to lead Boys & Girls Club

Jonathan Hicks, 31, is the new executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County. Hicks officially started his position yesterday, Feb. 1.

The new director and his wife Denise, a dentist with Advantage Dental, moved to Florence from Memphis, Tenn., in June 2011. The couple has two children, Ethan, 9, and Layla, 5.

Nearly 10 months ago, Hicks was hired as the club’s athletic director after volunteering for the organization as coach. He currently fulfills both the athletic and executive director duties.

Ken Gaylord, outgoing executive director, will continue at the club for the next four to six weeks.

“Ken has graciously agreed to work on a part-time basis to finish current grant applications and see those through,” said Hicks.
