Florence woman killed in Highway 126 accident

A Florence woman died in a single vehicle accident Thursday morning on Highway 126 near Noti.

Patricia D. Dunning, 47, was driving eastbound on Highway 126 near milepost 40 when her car, a Dodge Neon, traveled off the road, struck a utility pole and landed on its side off an embankment. The power pole was sheared off at its base and powerlines fell near the car.

Oregon State Police, which is still investigating the accident, reported that it was raining heavily at the time of the accident, about 7:25 a.m.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Lane Fire Authority, ODOT and Emerald People’s Utility District. Traffic was restricted to one lane for about four hours.
