The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for donors to help cover the cost of the 2014 Fourth of July fireworks display.
Chamber Executive Director Cal Applebee said, “It costs the chamber right at $9,500. The fireworks are $9,000 and then we have to provide accommodations for the (pyrotechnic) team for a couple of days. We put that out to bid to all our lodging chamber members. We got a really good rate this year of $500.”
The chamber does not have to pay the entire bill. Transit room tax money from the city typically covers half the cost. The remainder is the responsibility of the chamber and the amount that is not paid by donations must come out of the chamber’s general fund. For the complete article see the 06-14-2014 issue.
