Sailors scratch Cougars, 48-32

Posted: Monday, Dec 24th, 2012

Chelsea Simington, Maddie Frelich and Sonya Lang move on a fastbreak opportunity at home in Mapleton, where the Sailors defeated Crow on Friday. This week, they will compete at the Tin Hat Tournament in Alsea.

The cold weather may have closed roads but there was no stopping Mapleton’s hot offense Friday night as the Sailors handed the Cougars a 48-32 loss.

Senior Liz Harry had little trouble avoiding the Cougars, scoring a double-double on the night with a career-high 22 points and 24 rebounds to lead Mapleton in front of a hometown crowd.

Even though Crow’s Kaitlin Hogate and Carly Drullinger each had scoring in the double digits, Mapleton’s relentless defense was able to hold the Cougars to one of their lowest scoring games of the season, with senior post Abbie Webb providing eight points to help put the Sailors on top for the win.
