Designated Routes talks continue

Posted: Friday, Jan 4th, 2013

Off-road enthusiasts will have a second chance to offer input on the Designated Routes plan Jan. 12 in Eugene.

REEDSPORT—Discussion will continue on the controversial Environmental Impact Statement for the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area off-highway vehicle 10 (C) Designated Routes Project, which will re-define existing popular off-road recreational routes along the south coast.

A second open house will be held, offering off-roading enthusiasts, as well as businesses that could be affected by the changes, a chance to voice concerns and offer input on the ODNRA project’s final draft.

“There was a request to extend the comment period because people want an opportunity to learn more and comment about the project,” said Michele Jones, Central Coast and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area district ranger. “A second open house gives the chance to discuss off-highway vehicle travel within designated routes on the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.”

The open house will be held at the Red Lion Inn at 205 Coburg Road in Eugene, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 12.
