Viks top Trojans, tie for second

Senior post Jake Thompson forces his way to the glass against Douglas in the Viks’ win Friday at home.

The Vikings handed the Trojans their seventh-straight loss of the season as Siuslaw hosted Douglas on Friday in a game that included six 3-pointers from junior guard Sam Johnson and 24 points from senior post Jacob Thompson.

Thompson was the first to score following the tip-off, with junior John Dodson scoring on a feed from junior guard Mitchell Butler.

Ahead 9-6 near the end of the first period, the Vikings closed the quarter with a six-point lead after a 3-pointer from Johnson put the Viks ahead 12-6 entering the second period.
