Mark your calendars for this year’s “Sharing the Coast” conference, coming to Coos County March 15-17.

The annual event, which offers a wide range of information about coastal science and natural history, is open to the general public.

The conference is an annual collaboration between CoastWatch (the volunteer program of the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition) and the Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators (NAME).

This year, Sharing the Coast will take place in both Bandon (Friday evening and Saturday) and Charleston (Sunday), with field trips elsewhere.

Charleston resident and retired climate scientist Al Solomon will provide the conference’s keynote talk Friday evening, March 15, speaking on “Weather Extremes and Climate Change: The Essential Linkage.”
