The Mapleton Highschool Equestrian team completed a successful 2013 OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Teams) season.

The team recieved OHSET’s Mini Team of the Year trophy for its excellent work together in its team event.

The competition included a 1st place finish in team penning at its third meet of the season.

Team mambers also performed well in their individual events.

Chandra Geddes, a junior, consistantly placed among top 15 in many of her events and set some personal records in her barrel racing and pole bending events.

I had a lot of fun this year with my 5-month old Baby Lady doing in-hand classes.

JD and Chet Geddes will be heading to state in Redmond, Ore., May 18 in the roping event after Chet won a gold medal and JD the silver at district. JD also placed high in flags, working rancher, and steer daubing events.

Chet, a freshman, placed high in steer daubing, and was only being beaten by a few seniors. He also placed well in flags and in the trail class.

“Though he be but little he is fierce,” Chet said of his three-year-old horse, Red Pollan.
