After falling in both games during last Sunday’s doubleheader against the Springfield Titans, the Sandblasters (3-14) faced the Canyon Crushers of Stayon on Wednesday in make-up game rained out earlier in the month.
Though Three Rivers, hoping to improve its record in what would be the final game of the regular season, was able to get the jump, the Crushers rallied late to secure a narrow 9-7 win that ended the regular season for the ’Blasters.
As a result, TRC arrived in Sandy, Ore., yesterday, fighting to remain in the post season during the Area-3 super regionals, which lasts through Sunday.
The double-elimination tournament, which also includes Redmond and Salem (Withnell), kicked off yesterday evening, with the Sandblasters facing NW Star. All teams continue play today, with the finals round taking place tomorrow.
The overall winner advances to the American Legion State Tournament in Medford next week, where they will play Area-3 champion Canyon Crushers of Stayton.
