OWENS—Sally J. Owens, 63, of Deadwood, passed away June 6, 2012, after a long illness.
Sally was born Jan. 14, 1949, in Eugene and was raised in the Deadwood area, where she lived most of her life.
She was a 1967 graduate of Mapleton High School who loved her family very much and enjoyed family get togethers, cooking for her grandchildren and taking care of her garden.
She loved to travel and collect antiques. Sally was very active in her community and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She was a Siuslaw Port Commissioner, and partner and co-owner of Don Wilbur Limited, with her father Don Wilbur, of Deadwood.
She was also a member of the North Coast Fish Habitat and served on the Siuslaw Watershed Council, Mapleton Commercial Area Owners and Siuslaw Estuary Partnership, and was a trustee of the Deadwood Pioneer Cemetery.
Sally is survived by her husband, Lee, of Deadwood; their children: Joshua, Brigette, Barnaby and Katie; a sister, Patsy McCray of Deadwood; her parents Don and Johnette Wilbur of Deadwood, and Dorothy Butorovich; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine and Nancy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Peace Harbor Home Health and Hospice or the Triangle Community Church.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
