Manuel R. "Tim" Basham

BASHAM—Manuel R. “Tim” Basham, 85, of Mapleton, passed away Jan. 9, 2013.

He was born July 9, 1927, in Austin, Texas, to Charles and Willie Basham.

He attended high school in Torrance, Calif., and served in the U.S. Navy.

Tim was a catskinner and lived in Alaska for nearly 50 years. He married Bettie Waits on Nov. 11, 1945, and they were married for 55 years.

They had four children: Kathleen Daniel of Eugene, Ore., Stephen Basham (deceased), Rodney Basham (deceased) and Michael Basham of Horn Lake, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Walton, whom he married Jan. 29, 2007; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Jan. 14, at 1 p.m., at Buell Andreason’s Funeral Chapel, 320 N Sixth St., in Springfield, Ore.
