DORANóBarbara Ann Doran, 79, of Florence, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her beloved husband Charlie at her side Feb. 13, 2013.
Barbara was born June 17, 1933, in Mariposa, Calif., to Kenneth and Annabelle Wearin. She was one of 11 children.
Barbara and Charlie worked side by side through two produce markets in Santa Cruz, Calif., and Lakeside Resort on Siltcoos Lake in Florence.
When they sold the resort, Charlie went to work for Safeway and Barbara got her real estate license. They worked for many more years until they both retired in Florence.
They were members of the Church of the Nazarene, where they found amazing love and strength.
Barbara found her greatest joy in her family. Her grandchildren have a special bond with their grandma, who would have them stay for weeks at a time whenever she could get them. She always made the time to give her family and friends love, hospitality and amazing meals.
She had a playful, youthful spirit, a laugh that was contagious, and a smile that lit up the room. She was our inspiration for strength, compassion, integrity and the ability to withstand.
We miss her more than words can express.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles A. Doran; her four children: James Charles Doran of Warrenton, Ore., Linda and Jay Dorn of Santa Cruz, Calif., Deby and Tom Hart of Boulder Creek, Calif., and Cyndie and Michael Carkeek of Vancouver, B.C.; eight grandchildren: Ashley Doran, Becky Engler, Adam Dorn, Brandyl Hart, Jamie Hart, Geneive Nickerson, Kalei Buzinski and Aidan Carkeek; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Regency of Florence on March 2, at 2 p.m.
Donations can be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Florence.
Burnsís Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
