Beatrice Ruth “Sue” Steinway

Posted: Tuesday, Feb 19th, 2013

STEINWAY—A celebration of life will be held for Beatrice Ruth “Sue” Steinway on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Florence Moose Lodge, at 2 p.m.

Sue was born Dec. 3, 1946, in San Francisco, Calif., to Joseph and Beatrice McPheters. She was the oldest of four sisters and was instrumental in raising them.

At an early age, she married Glen Meskimen, and they had two sons, Glen and Sean. After her divorce, Sue became a registered nurse and eventually worked in hospital administration.

She found the love of her life in her second husband, Roy Kenneth Steinway. Sue legally adopted Roy’s only daughter, Susan.

They resided in Boulder Creek, Calif., with Sue owning and operating a toy store named Sticks & Stones, and Roy working for Pacific Bell.

At retirement, they moved to Fort Jones, Calif., where they built their dream home on top of a mountain with an amazing view of Mt. Shasta. They were very active in the community.

Sue was a bowling champion, had a wonderful laugh and loved to collect porcelian dolls, art, jewelry, shoes and antiques.

She is survived by her step-mother, Alta; her sons Glen and Sean; her daughter, Susan; four granddaughters: Morgan, Lila, Katlin and Brook; and one grandson, Nick.

She will be deeply missed.
