Robert "Bob" Bowen

BOWEN—Robert “Bob” Bowen, 81, of Florence, passed away Feb. 19, 2013, with his wife, Carol, at his side.

He was born in 1931, in El Cajon, Calif., and had lived in the Florence area for more than 25 years.

Bob was a veteran, served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and was a retired steamfitter.

After retirement, he traveled around the country for two years. Bob and Carol fell in love with the Oregon coast and settled in Florence, where they built a home.

He was a past exalted ruler of the Florence Elks Lodge #1858, and was very respected and liked in the Northwest district, making many friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carol; three sons: John and his wife, Cheryl, of Tampa, Fla., Hank and his wife, Patty, of Redding, Calif., and Tom and his wife, Lisa, of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren, including Cheryl Boyd of San Diego, Calif.; three great-grandchildren; and his beloved pets, Buddy and Red.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later day.

Private cremation rites were handled through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
