A former Oregon State Parks manager pleaded guilty to second-degree theft July 12 in Lane County Circuit Court.
Dennis Davidson, 52, of Florence was sentenced to 18 months of court probation and six days in jail and was ordered to pay $1,028 in restitution for stealing equipment from his former employer. Assistant Lane County District Attorney Patty Perlow said Davidson had paid the restitution prior to sentencing and that a first-degree official misconduct charge was dismissed.
Davidson was arrested in May following an Oregon State Police investigation. He was formerly the manager of Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, which sees more than a million-and-a-half visitors each year, making it the second-largest overnight campground in Oregon.
Perlow said that although the criminal case against Davidson is closed, an ethics investigation is currently under way.
