MAPLETON — A former teacher at Siuslaw’s middle and elementary schools, Jodi O’Mara, 43, has accepted the position of superintendent for Mapleton School District. As of press time Friday, contract negotiations were not finalized.
“I’m excited to be able to participate in the community and culture of Mapleton as well as in the education of its children. It’s an amazing place,” said O’Mara.
She will replace long-time Superintendent Kyle Tucker, who accepted a job earlier this year with South Lane School District in Cottage Grove.
O’Mara has been principal for four years at Blossom Gulch Elementary School in the Coos Bay School District, where she had previously served as assistant principal for both Blossom Gulch and Millicoma Intermediate School.
Born in Nebraska, O’Mara was brought up in Roseburg and graduated from high school in 1987.
