After going 1-for-3 at the Jim Chubb’s Memorial Tournament in Medford, the Three Rivers Sandblasters came home to nab a hard-fought league win against Corvallis on Monday, coming from a five-run deficit to take a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning.
Singles by Mike Bennett, Jimmy Mack and Jake Thompson set the ’Blasters’ offense in motion, with a two-RBI single from Josh Hanson sparking a four-run rally in the fifth inning to pull within one run of Corvallis.
Solid defense, along with stellar pitching from Bennett, kept TR’s momentum going heading into the bottom of the sixth, when patience at the plate paid off for Travis Gallagher, Thompson and Nick Cole. A sacrifice from Alex Snow put TR on top.
