By the time the first golf ball is sailing down the long, narrow fairway leading to the first hole at Ocean Dunes, Bob Rannow has already been through the clubhouse, inspected the carts and is en route to his second cup of coffee. In less than an hour, he’ll have a morning meeting with other directors from Three Rivers Casino and Hotel, including the food and beverage director, marketing director, Tribal Chairman Bob Garcia and CEO Mike Rose — all of whom share a singular goal.

“We want to provide the best experience possible,” says Rannow, whose energy has less to do with caffeine and more to do with the level of excitement he has for his new position as director of golf at Ocean Dunes. “This course is truly a hidden gem, with the potential to be the best course on the west coast.”

After several years as a golf pro, general manager and director of golf at Sandpines, Rannow was chosen by Three Rivers after the purchase of the golf course by the Coos, Lower Umpqua, Siuslaw Tribe in March as part of an overall plan to enhance the casino’s resort experience.
