PURDON—Phyllis Purdon, 91, of Florence, passed away Aug. 6, 2012, while living in Salem, Ore.
Phyllis was born Oct. 10, 1920, to Clair and Jewel Wilson of Chanute, Kansas.
Phyllis and her family moved to Florence in 1958, from Charleston, S.C.
She went to work for Safeway in 1959 and retired in 1982. She married Jim Purdon that same year.
Jim passed away March 22, 2001.
Phyllis was a member of the Florence Christian Church and a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1968 and 1969. She also was a member of the Ladies of Elks and Elks RV Club.
Phyllis is survived by her three daughters: Danna Marble and husband Mike, Pat Browne and husband Judd, and Ginger Thompson and husband; daughter-in-law Mary Stone Carlisle and fiancé Sheldon Meyer; stepson James Purdon III; stepdaughter Gretchen Hamilton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her son, Charles Coleman Carlisle, who passed away in 1983.
Arrangements are being made through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
