On Monday, Oct. 1, local dogs will finally have a park of their own. Starting at 10 a.m., Florence dignitaries will be gather for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of Florence’s new 44,000-square-feet dog park.
A Florence City Council goal for 2012, the dog park is located on the west side of Singing Pines Park at the corner of Kingwood Street and Airport Road.
The park not only provides a place for visitors to walk their dog off-leash, but also represents citizen and government collaboration at its best with Public Works crews, local volunteers and hundreds of members of the Coos Bay’s Church of Latter-Days Saints coming together this past summer to make the dog park a reality.
