Chowder, Blues & Brews 2012

Florence’s annual fall festival, hosted by the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce, delivered 100 percent again this year during Chowder, Blues and Brews. More than 1,100 people attended over the weekend; 516 stood in line as part of the people’s choice chowder tasting competition.

The music was excellent, the food was fantastic, and the beer was delicious, served in at least a dozen flavors and fizzes, all the tastiest treats on the coast.

The main event, a chowder cook-off., attracted some serious chowder connoisseurs.

The winners are:

Professional competition:

1st place: Burger Bungalow, Vancouver Wash. (#3)

2nd place: Sporthaven Marina, Brookings, Ore. (#4)

Peoples Choice:

1st place: Trios, Three Rivers Casino and Hotel, Florence (#5)

2nd place: Burger Bungalow (#3)

Other participants:

ICM (#1)

Maple Street Grille (#2)

Kelly’s Cantina (#6)

Amateur competition:

1st place: Jeannine Ross, Eugene

2nd place: Sonja Ingle, Florence
