CLARK—Velma Virginia Clark, 76, of Florence, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, of a heart attack in her home at Buck Lake Trailer Park.
Born to Ralph and Essie Barnes on Nov. 28, 1925, in Haines, Ore., she was the ninth of 10 children.
She attended school in Enid, Okla., and ran away from home at age 12, joining the Barnum and Bailey Circus. She met and married Morris Clark in Los Angeles, Calif., eventually moving to Florence in 1962 — the year of the Columbus Day storm.
She worked for many years at the Fisherman’s Wharf. She traveled around the United States and moved to Alaska for a few years before returning to Florence and settling down.
The mother of seven children, she is survived by Lawrence Clark, Penny Sims, Cheri Clark, Dusty Clark, Robin Barrett and Tracy Clark; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris, and her oldest son, Ronnie.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring for her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
