Viks lead Far West at 5-0

Siuslaw continued its sweep through the Far West virtually unchallenged after knocking off North Bend and South Umpqua this week, advancing to 5-0 as the second half of league play begins.

On Tuesday, Lona Dengler, Ashlee Cole and Adrianna Roberts led an offensive assault against the Bulldogs, combining for 31 points at North Bend. After a pair of close sets in which the Viks won by a total of eight points, Siuslaw lost the third set in a 13-25 upset.

The Vikings answered back in the fourth game, taking a commanding lead on kills from Dengler, Roberts and Cole, as well as kills from Alex Dodson, Chelsey Bartlett and Hannah Bartlett.

Siuslaw took the match win 25-18 in game four.

Dengler had 15 kills; Roberts and Cole had seven kills each.

Thursday, Siuslaw returned home to wrap up the first half of the league season, hosting South Umpqua (1-4) to a three-game sweep. Senior libero Lacey DeSantis contributed 14 perfect serve-receive passes to go along with a trio of aces, pacing the Vikings’ offense.
