Sweet success

An estimated 400 people gathered Saturday night at the Florence Events Center for the 20th annual Wine and Chocolate Gala to benefit the Florence Area Humane Society. Guests heard music by the Jukebox Kings,

nibbled on savory creations from area restaurants, sipped the

“fruit of the vine” from select wineries, indulged in chocolate-dipped treats and bid on silent or live auction items. The event’s auctioneer was Mayor Phil Brubaker. Early reports said the event raised more than $13,000.
