Winning combination

Posted: Friday, Nov 2nd, 2012

Siuslaw cross country team members Seth Campbell, Mack Marbas, Mitchell Butler, Hayden Schaffner, Matthew Campbell, Edwin Vasquez and Brian Schofield are favored to win today’s 4A state title. Seth Campbell and Katy Potter, each of whom hold the 5K school record at Siuslaw, have a shot at 4A state individual titles today in Eugene.

Still ranked No. 1 in the state and, according to some coaches polls, the fourth best team in the region — including Idaho, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii — at any level, the Vikings have made good on predictions of their dominance by beating every 4A team in every meet they have competed in.

Since the first pistol crack in September, only twice has Siuslaw finished second to anyone, on both occasions to the best 6A teams in the state.
