RAMIREZ—Jim Ramirez, 62, of Florence, beloved husband and loyal friend to many, passed away Oct. 31, 2012.
Jim was born March 15, 1950, in Oxnard, Calif.
Jim married the love of his life, Diane, on Dec. 12, 1992, in Hana, Maui. He was an educator who devoted his career to at-risk youth.
Jim was a passionate singer-songwriter who performed with many musicians from Southern California to the Oregon coast. He was involved in many charitable events over the years including Relay For Life, Habitat for Humanity, Concert by the Lake, Surfrider Foundation, Siuslaw Fisher-man’s Association and many more.
His first book, “The Garden,” was recently published. Jim also enjoyed having a “cold one” at a local pub with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Diane, and their faithful dog, Kona, and a large family in Southern California, as well as many friends and loved ones in Florence.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, beginning at 5 p.m., at the Florence Events Center.
Everyone is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim and Diane Ramirez Music Scholarship Fund at Oregon Pacific Bank.
This scholarship will help students from Siuslaw and Mapleton school districts as well as Camp Florence Youth Authority fulfill their musical dreams.
These may be left at the celebration or with Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
