OLSONóDorothy Mae Olson, 92, of Florence, passed away Oct. 31, 2012.
Dorothy was born April 1, 1920, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Otto and Gertrude Witt.
She went to work as a passenger agent for United Airlines after high school. She worked in Seattle and Portland, Ore., during World War II.
In September 1946, Dorothy married Ted Olson and the couple raised their family in Portland. She was a homemaker and volunteer and worked at Concordia Lutheran College for several years.
She was always active in the Lutheran church and gave generously of her time and efforts. She enjoyed gardening, golf and travel.
Dorothy and Ted retired to Tidewater, Ore., and after his death in 1994 she moved to Waldport and then to Florence.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Don Witt; her son, Ron Olson; daughters Bonnie Gilbert (Tom) and Dina McClure (Jim) of Florence; four grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m., at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Florence.
In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a charity of choice in Dorothyís name.
