Holiday season lights up Old Town

Historic Old Town Florence is gearing up once again for its annual Florence Holiday Festival, which kicks off Saturday, Dec. 1, with the traditional Christmas tree lighting and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at Gazebo Park on Bay Street.

Festivities start at dusk, or approximately 4:30 p.m. On succeeding weekends, numerous activities are scheduled to keep holiday shoppers in a festive spirit.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, a Cookie Tasting contest leads shoppers to participating merchants throughout Old Town who will each offer their best cookie to be judged.

Ballots can be picked up at any store that shows a “Participating Merchant” sign in its windows. Drop them off at Periwinkle Station, Wizard of Odds, Old Time Flashback Photo and Nana’s White Hare Cottage.
