The Lane Community College clay class has completed another supply of unique bowls to be sold at Empty Bowls 2012 this weekend at the Florence Events Center. This is the 17th year for the popular event.

Each year, the LCC clay students support Florence Food Share by working hard to create unique and beautiful ceramic bowls for the annual fundraiser.

This year, students, both beginning and advanced, decided to create “foot bowls,” ceramic bowls with feet. The rule was that the bowl could be any size, as long as it had feet. Some of the bowls have “regular feet,” and some have a starfish foot, duck feet, an elephant foot and even a foot made of heads.

More than 80 Siuslaw High School art students also participated in creating bowls.
