Posted: Tuesday, Dec 4th, 2012

LAMPROPULOS—Chris Lampropulos, 93, of Florence, passed away Nov. 20, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Albany, Ore.

Chris was born March 3, 1929, to Mary and Gus Lam-propulos in Klamath Falls, Ore., where he continued to live until his retirement in 1991.

Chris graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1948 and married Mary Ann Arnold on Sept. 12, 1953, in Reno, Nev.

Together, he and Mary Ann raised their two children, Victoria Ann and Deno, in Klamath Falls.

Chris began his career working in the family business Olympia Grocery and Olympic Apartments in Klamath Falls. Working with his father, Gus, at the business, Chris developed strong management skills which he put to use throughout his life.

After the death of Gus, the decision was made to wind down the grocery.

But Chris continued the management of the Olympic Apartments, together with his primary career at the Herald and News newspaper, where he worked in production for 45 years.

Chris retired from the Herald and News in 1991 and moved to the Oregon coast to begin a long deserved retirement at Coast Village.

Shortly after arriving in Florence, the fellow land owners in Coast Village called on Chris to serve on the board of directors, which then led to serving as president of the owners association for 15 years.

His strong leadership and business management skills have benefited the park owners to this date.

Chris invested many long days in meetings with directors for the association and working with the city on land use

issues.

He stepped down as president in 2007, with the park’s business in good standing.

Chris is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Lampropulos; his daughter, Victoria Henson; his son, Deno Lampropulos, a sister, Athena Bochbot and her husband, Raphael Bochbot; a sister, Dr. Constance Dena Sax and her children, Christopher and Alexandra; grandchildren Melissa DeLaCruz and her husband, Gil, and Seth Henson; great-granddaughters Stella Noel and Sofia Christa DeLaCruz; sister-in-law Barbara Schulze; and brother-in-law Lynn Arnold and his wife, Carol.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Helen and Cleopatra.

Interment and private graveside service will take place at Linkville Cemetery in Klamath Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Santiam Evergreen Hospice House, 4600 Evergreen Place SE, Albany, OR 97322.

Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
