Vikings rally, catch Cubs, 35-33

Senior guard Alexandra Dodson scored 11 points against Newport Tuesday.

The Vikings took an early lead over Newport Tuesday night and never looked back — until the final minutes.

That’s when the Cubs managed to tie the game at 24, leaving just over five minutes of playing time on the clock in what became a down-to-the-wire victory for the Viking girls.

With 5:30 left, the Cubs got their first lead, 26-24, and began full-court pressure on what was essentially a six-player Siuslaw rotation that had been executing man-to-man defense all night.
