Siuslaw bumps Brookings, 79-60

Siulsaw junior John Dodson breaches Brookings’ defense on a fastbreak opportunity. Jake Thompson and Mitchell Butler battle for a rebound against Brookings Tuesday night.

The Vikings wasted no time in getting the upper hand against Brookings, taking a 2-0 lead less than a minute into their match-up Tuesday, with a back-door pass from Mitchell Butler to Jacob Thompson.

Siuslaw never trailed.

A short time later, Ryan Smith drained a long 3-pointer from the corner, with Butler building a 7-0 lead on a short jumper inside the paint.

The Bruins’ first bucket came halfway through the period, followed by four unanswered points to pull within one point with three minutes remaining in the quarter.
