Robert Dawson Davee

DAVEE—Robert Dawson Davee, 77, of Florence, passed away suddenly Jan. 9, 2013, shortly before his 78th birthday.

He was born in River Falls, Wis., to Chalmer, a physician, and Helen, a school teacher and homemaker, and he and his brothers John and Tom enjoyed a pleasant childhood in rural Wisconsin.

After receiving a chemical engineering degree from South Dakota School of Mines, he was employ-ed for many years in the oil and gas industries.

He was involved in the development of the catalytic converter while employed with UOP in California, and later traveled and worked in Chicago, Houston, a time on Das Island in the United Arab Emirates, Vacaville, Calif., and finally retired to Florence in 2001.

Bob was a long-standing member of the BPOE since l964, and he joined the Elks Lodge #1858 in Florence, enjoying many volunteer activities, most recently serving as Lodge treasurer.

Bob and his wife, Sharon, enjoyed many travels, visiting their daughter and son-in-law in Belgium on several occasions, and to Europe, China and most recently to St. Petersburg, Russia.

He is survived by his loving wife; his brothers: John of Wisconsin and Tom of Reno, Nev., and his wife and children; his son, Robin, and his wife Bonnie and their children, Michael and Lindsey; his daughter, Heather, and her husband Travis and their daughter, Hailey Allison; and a grandchild due in July.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Allison.

A touching and heartfelt memorial was held by the Elks membership Jan. 12, which was much appreciated and comforting to the family at the time of this sudden loss.

Donations can be made in Bob’s name to the Meadowwood School through the Elks Lodge, where he volunteered his time for several of the last few years.

At his request, private cremation rites were held through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
