YACHATS ó A brief program to dedicate a safety marker that educates and warns visitors about the dangers of the coast is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at Adobe Resortís Pacific Room, 1555 Highway 101, in Yachats.

Built with private donations, the marker was inspired by the lives of Jack Harnsongkram and Conor Ausland, two young men from Eugene who drowned 100 meters north of the marker in February 2011.

Speakers include Ronald Brean, Yachats mayor and vice president-elect of the Oregon League of Cities; Curt Wilson, safety marker committee member; and Ellen Tykeson, sculptor.
