Home show draws good crowds

Weather and attendance was mixed at this year’s 17th Annual Florence Home and Garden Show, according to organizers. Saturday was outstanding throughout the day with a steady flow of showgoers shopping for ideas as well as products and services, according to Jon Thompson, show director and host. Overcast skies and scattered showers kicked off the weekend, but by Sunday blue skies and temperatures near 60 degrees may have had a small effect on the day’s attendance.

Thompson said that overall the attendance figures were about average, “around 2,700,” during the three-day event. “It was one of our better shows in regard to the mix of businesses, products and services,” he said. “The really interesting comments are from vendors from outside the Florence area who are always surprised at how those attending the show are so neighborly and genuinely interested. They also are very impressed with the community as a whole and our hospitality and dining opportunities.”
