The Vikings opened their season at home against Pleasant Hill on Wednesday, with past Siuslaw and Sandblasters coach Jim Dietz returning to the helm as head coach.
Far West all-leaguer and future OSU pitcher Jacob Thompson was the first to go to work on the mound for Siuslaw, pitching nearly five innings, striking out eight and allowing only two hits.
