Siuslaw loses close one in season opener

Posted: Friday, Mar 15th, 2013

The Vikings opened their season at home against Pleasant Hill on Wednesday, with past Siuslaw and Sandblasters coach Jim Dietz returning to the helm as head coach.

Far West all-leaguer and future OSU pitcher Jacob Thompson was the first to go to work on the mound for Siuslaw, pitching nearly five innings, striking out eight and allowing only two hits.

Unfortunately, a series of walks put the Billies into scoring position in the top of the third inning, with Pleasant Hillís Parker Smith driving in two runs on a 2-RBI double deep to centerfield.
