Siuslaw loses to undefeated Marshfield

The Vikings opened the season last week with a tough loss to undefeated Marshfield (3-0), with the Pirates scoring 12 of their 13 runs in the third inning, ending what started out as a scoreboard stalemate.

Taking advantage of that momentum, Marshfield held out to end the game with 12 hits to claim a 13-0 shuout over Siuslaw.

For the Viks, junior catcher Ashlee Cole was back behind the plate, where she led Siuslaw’s offense with a single and a double, going 2-for-2 in the box but getting stranded on both attempts.

Yesterday, Siuslaw was on the road at Newport (after press deadlines) to take on the Cubs for the Viks’ second match-up of the pre-season.

Today, Siuslaw will be at North Eugene High School for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m., followed by the nightcap at 4 p.m.
