Viking baseball fans are enjoying a busy pre-season with four home games to start the season off.
After a narrow 3-1 loss in the season opener early last week against Pleasant Hill, the Vikings came back strong on Friday in their second home stand of the pre-season, shutting out Marshfield in a 10-0 rout.
Freshman catcher Kenneth Thrall led Siuslaw at the plate, going 2-for-3 in the box, scoring a run in Friday’s win and getting aboard on all three plate appearances.
The win puts the Viks at 1-1, with Siuslaw hosting Newport last night (after press deadlines).
Today, the Viks will host Cottage Grove, beginning at 4 p.m., then will travel to Marshfield on Friday for a re-match with the Pirates, who are 0-3.
First pitch for Friday’s game will go out at 4 p.m.
