2013 Rhody princesses named

The newly appointed Rhododendron Festival Senior Princess Court, Jade Herbert, Courtney Rodet and Taysie Savage, put in an appearance at the annual Rotary Auction Saturday, March 16.

The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce has named this year’s Senior Rhododendron Princess Court.

Jade Herbert, a senior at Siuslaw High School, and Taysie Savage and Courtney Rodet, both seniors at Mapleton High School, have been chosen as this year’s ambassadors for the 106th Annual Rhododendron Festival and will compete for the crown of Queen Rhododendra 2013. Each of these young women has demonstrated excellence in scholastic achievement and a strong commitment to community involvement, and they were highly commended to the Rhododendron Scholarship Com-mittee by both their teachers and civic leaders.

The Senior Court will be joined by five junior princesses, grades 1 through 5, from both Siuslaw and Mapleton elementary schools. Applications for junior court are still available at the elementary schools or through the chamber’s website, www.florencechamber .com. The deadline for application is April 2.
