Mari Jane Kelly

Posted: Tuesday, Mar 26th, 2013

KELLY—Mari Jane Kelly, 93, of Florence, passed away March 17, 2013, of age-related causes.

Mari was born June 4, 1919, in Minneapolis, Minn., and adopted by Thomas Joseph and Albina Armstrong Ludden.

She joined the Army Nurse Corps and served in England during World War II after graduating from School of Nursing at University of Minnesota.

She has been the loving and devoted wife of Milton W. Kelly since May 9, 1947, and a wonderful mother to their three children, Michael Kelly, Sybil Baker and Ann Kelly.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

All the family has benefited from the creations of her artistic nature, whether it was as an accomplished knitter, a talented seamstress or with her culinary skills.

She enjoyed entertaining and was always a gracious hostess, welcoming friends and family with batches of their favorite recipes from her kitchen. She had a wry sense of humor and was a challenging card player.

There are plans for a celebration of life, with the date to be determined later.

The family suggests expressions of appreciation are given in the form of a hug to those closest and a call to those far away.

At her request, private cremational rites were held through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
