John “Jack” Albert Podawiltz

PODAWILTZ—John “Jack” Albert Podawiltz, 80, of Florence, passed away at his home on March 27, 2013.

Jack was born April 22, 1932, in St. Cloud, Minn., to Alan 
and Ann Podawiltz.

Jack worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Klamath Falls, Ore., and transferred to Eugene in 1968. After retiring, Jack and his wife Joy moved to Florence.

Jack enjoyed summertime at Triangle Lake, camping, boating and skiing with his kids and grandkids, always making sure everyone was having a good time. He was the star of the show at family gatherings, showing off with his famous Russian dance.

He is survived by his wife, Joy; his sons: Alan Podawiltz, William Podawiltz and Bryan Podawiltz; his daughter, Danise Jameison; his step-son, David Pippin; his step-daughter, Gayle Price; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Surviving siblings include: Joe Podawiltz, Al Podawiltz, Betty Went, Bonny Fowler and June Jones.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florence.

Private interment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.

Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
