The Age Knows No Limit Project honors seven Lane County residents over age 60 in May during Older Americans Month.

The program recognizes people whose active engagement is an inspiration to others. From a public nomination process, active, creative and vital older Americans are selected who are outstanding role models and who capture the essence of this year’s them, “Embracing Life.”

This year’s honorees include Florence resident Steve Olienyk.

According to Olienyk’s nomination, which was submitted by Mike Bones of Florence, Olienyk, 86, has “a Midwest work ethic, which is relentless. His energy, concern for others and enthusiasm for volunteering is infectious. He treats everyone with kindness, patience and respect. ... He embraces life by sharing his talents and compassion with others.”
