STEP shares new fish stories

Posted: Tuesday, Apr 9th, 2013

Volunteers from the Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP), Bob Depweg (left) and Brian Hudson, talk with a class of first graders about the steelhead eggs that the students will be raising in their classroom aquarium. The Fish Egg to Fry program is an annual education project collaboration with STEP and teachers at the Siuslaw Elementary School. STEP volunteer Tom Dickson (center) uses his iPad to show third graders the life stages of steelhead eggs. Dickson was one of several members of the local STEP organization to talk with students and deliver steelhead eggs to the classroom aquariums. A fourth-grade student gently drops eyed steelhead eggs into the classroom aquarium under the watchful eye of STEP volunteer Paul Wilson (right).
