After sparking a three-game winning streak heading into the start of league, the streak ended there as Sutherlin struck for eight runs in the fifth inning to break open what had been a close game.
“A hit-by-pitch, combined with a walk and some fielding errors between the last two innings sealed our fate,” said Siuslaw coach Sean O’Mara.
Meanwhile, Sutherlin’s pitching and solid defense “had a huge impact on us not being able to score,” said O’Mara. “They pitched a great game and didn’t give us many opportunities to build on.”
The Bulldogs went on to win with a 12-0 shutout. For the complete article see the 04-13-2013 issue.
