Plans for the 106th Annual Rhododendron Festival in Florence are blooming and preparations are coming together all over the city.
The 2013 Princess Court has been selected and is out in the community making appearances. Meet the princesses at this week’s Florence Area Chamber of Commerce Noon Forum on Thursday, April 18, at the World Buffet at Three Rivers Casino and Hotel.
Parade applications are rolling in for the annual Grand Floral Parade on Sunday, May 19, but Chamber Executive Director Cal Applebee reminds folks that Friday, April 19, is the last day to turn in applications without paying the $15 fee.
“So far we have vehicle clubs, equestrian entries, five out-of-area bands and lots of others, so it’s shaping up to be another big parade this year. We are extremely excited to have the University of Oregon Duck participating as the Grand Marshal this year, along with a local Duck-mobile,” said Applebee. “The Vendor Fair on Maple Street in Old Town is also filling up, but there are a few spaces left,” he added.
Rhody pins are currently available at the Chamber’s Visitor Center on Highway 101, and apparel will be available by the end of the week. Sign-ups for pooper scoopers and banner carriers begin May 1.For the complete article see the 04-17-2013 issue.
